So Much Wasted Time
One particularly significant moment for me occurred when I encountered David Cassidy's final words, featured as the "Quote of the Day" in the I Newspaper prior to his passing. “So much wasted time.” And Juist van de Westhuizen, a renowned South African rugby player, said while dying of motor neurone disease that health and time are life's real priorities. If our health fails so our time here is reduced.
Despite knowing our time on earth is limited, many of us act as if it’s infinite and neglect our physiological, mental or spiritual health and well-being.
“Wasted Time” is an interesting thought. There are many ways in which we can waste time... for example, it could be worrying about a future event or relationship, feeling guilty or angry about a past event, ultimately realising that so little of our time is spent in the present. Eckhart Tolle, in his book “The Power of Now,” argues that the present moment is all we truly have. The past has gone and is an illusion and the future, also an illusion, has yet to come.
